Ekman Pumping in ROMS
Hello everyone,
I am trying to figure out how the ROMS calculate the Ekman pumping in the model. Does any one have idea on where the code is for Ekman pumping? Thank you and have a nice day!
Happy modeling
Xu

Re: Set geostrphically balanced initial current
There is one more thing to add to this topic specifically related to the fact that you may
want not just geostrophic balance, but the geostrophic balance as it would be felt by the
discrete model , i.e., ROMS.
ROMS uses C-grid, which means that discrete u s and v s in Coriolis terms are

Create a forcing file to add radiative cooling
Hi Everyone,
I want to add radiative cooling to my model.
And I am trying to use the create_roms_forcings.m in Tools/mfiles/mtools
however, it won't make the same kind of forcing file as the one in the sample forcing file, which is:
Variable: f
Type: file
filename: spec_light_frc
path: spec_light ...

Re: Set geostrphically balanced initial current
:D
Thank you very much! it works well now!
I set velocity field first and calculate the temperature field through geostrophic balance
It is usually works the other way around: density field + free surface (via level of no motion or some other idea of this sort) ==> pressure field ==> pressure ...

Set geostrphically balanced initial current
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to set a initial condition of geostrophically balanced current in a channel.
I set velocity field first and calculate the temperature field through geostrophic balance and linear relationship between the density and temperature as salinity is set to be zero. However ...

ROMS bathymetry file creating
Hi everyone,
I am trying to create a idea channel bathymetry file for ROMS. I saw there is a mat2roms_mw.m file in the directory of /Tools/mfiles/mtools/. I am wondering is there any matlab code to create a *.mat first, and we could use this mat2roms_mw.m to convert it to netCDF file for ROMS ...
