The Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) at the University of Miami invites applications for a post-doctoral position in the Division of Meteorology and Physical Oceanography (MPO). The position is available for a one year appointment, renewable for two additional years.
The incumbent will engage in research activities to improve parameterizations of overflow-induced mixing in numerical ocean circulation models, in particular in the HYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). Analysis and processing of observational ocean data are an integral part of this process. A strong background and expertise in numerical modeling with an emphasis on ocean general circulation models and/or turbulence modeling are required. The project will be carried out in collaboration with several other institutions and modeling centers, such as WHOI, GFDL, and NCAR.
