ask for compiling tutorial

Hi every body
once i found a tutorial which was totally complete for new users , compiling ROMS in cygwin , it was written by Diego , i now just wanted to ask if any one have such a complete and simple to use tutorial or step by step procedure for compiling the ROMS in linux machine .... many many thanks
